The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) must close at the end of 2011 for up to a year to address design issues, according to an LHC director.

To address "design issues"...yes the whole fucking thing is a design issues! It hasn't worked. This is amazing; they have some of the smartest people in the world working on this and they can't make it work for more than a week without it falling apart again. What happened to testing? Why were these faults not picked up on in the testing stage?

It's not difficult...you test, you test, you test and then you test once more just to make sure its not going to fall apart like this is doing all the time.

Does anyone know the longest amount of time it's been working without falling apart? I think it's only 8 days I'm not sure.
