That sucks!

Have you thought about supplementing your diet with herbs and/or vitamins?  I've heard ads for heart and body extract and another one called Xtendovite.  I don't know how well they work, but considered getting one for my boyfriend before he died.

Here are the websites:

Let me tell you something D.T. if Earthman ate something healthy it would kill him.....
I`ve tried to tell him but it`s like talkin to a wall, if it ain`t dipped in grease he ain`t eatin it....
He does not take care of himself and will not listen to Doctor`s or anybody trust me I`ve tried....
He still smokes and does not watch what he eat`s if he eat`s that day......
Love him to death he`s one of my best friend`s and I wish he would take care of himself, but like you said D.T. you can lead the hourse to water but you can`t make him drink.....

Well, maybe it would be easier to add things to supplement rather than take them away?  Like an apple a day keeps the doctor away?  Or adding vitamins?  I got my boyfriend to start taking vitamins and probiotics.  It started with healthy dinners and all my talk about what is healthy.  Don't get me wrong, I don't always practice healthy ways either, but I'm moving in that direction.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I've also had two stents placed after my first heart attack. My cardiologist has me on a med called Niaspan they say (whoever they are ;)) that over time it actually clears some of the blockage. The primary ingredient is Niacin so it is kind of a natural, I take 2000 mgs every night before I go to bed the worse side effect is the flushing (flushing is like having hot flashes) and some slight tingling but both of those things make me feel as though it's working.

I did manage to stop smoking after my first it was the toughest habit psychologically that I ever had to kick and I've kicked some tough ones. The night that I got to the hospital I opened the window in my room and attempted to have a smoke, all of it came right back into the room, shortly followed by a nurse. She asked me if I was smoking in the room, I wasn't going to deny it so I answered "yes" then she said there is Oxygen on in the room and I could cause an explosion to which I responded "I know better then to smoke around Oxygen so you don't have to worry about that, I shut it off". Don't misunderstand me I wasn't getting cocky with the poor girl, I was embarrassed but primarily ashamed, that was the motivation for me to stop. I said to myself "how can I let something like a cigarette have that much power over me, I'm in the coronary care unit in the midst of a heart attack and I still have to have a freakin smoke"! That was it for me and it's been almost two years, I smoked from the time I was in the Army at the age of Eighteen until I was Forty Nine. I still get urges and probably always will, they're not daily but once in a while. I enjoyed smoking but enjoying life is much more important to me today, after all you can't smoke if your dead.

I agree with DT  healthy diet, exercise and some Vitamin supplements (I take "One-a-day" for men) I know if you have had a heart attack you are taking something for blood pressure or something for cholesterol so whats one more pill, I feel the difference, I have more energy and stamina.

I heard of a study done by a Cardiologist in California where he used Twenty of his patients giving Ten of them the normal medication regiment and prescribed a change of lifestyle for the other Ten. All Twenty of the patients after one year were doing well the difference being that the one's on the meds were stable in their condition and the one's who did the lifestyle change actually saw a reversal of their condition showing healthier hearts across the board. I will see if I can locate the study for you it was referenced in a book it recently read called "Spontaneous Evolution" by Dr. Bruce Lipton. Lipton has some very unique ideas.

I don't want to preach to you about it (but I'm going to). It's real easy to give up and a lot tougher to actually do something about it. A complete lifestyle change is a major thing for us old guys we're pretty set in our ways, I'm not there yet myself, but even with the few things I have changed I'm feeling younger by the day and isn't that what it's all about "quality of life"? So easy does it, a little at a time even if it's only one thing a month, I believe you will see a difference.

I can't speak for anyone else but I for one would like to see you around  for the next Thirty years or so and I'm sure that many others feel the same! :)

 Thanks for being you "Eman"!
