LOVE IT!  Thank you Toppy.  :-*

I've never heard that song before, but it sent chills up my spine.  That is always a sign of good music.  ;D

Here is another song that has always sent chills up my spine.

DT! This is one of my favorites. I love protest songs. My grandfather tells me why in the hell do I listen to songs back from the 60s and 70s all the time. The simple answer is the message the songs put forth. I get chills every time i listen to songs with a message!  :)

Yeah, I was always more of a lyrics person myself.  I like the rest too, but if the lyrics are stupid I get burned out on the song.  That's why I like old European folk music, they tell stories.  I have one that talks about a poor guy who was forcefully brought into the English Army, beaten and such.  So he kept deserting, but people kept informing on him.  So, when he is about to be hanged for deserting, Prince Albert says to set him free..."he'll make a good soldier for his Queen and country".  The poor guy, it's probably a true tale and he was probably just coming home from the pub when he was kidnapped.

Found it on youtube.  :)

I have another local folk song that talks about the Bainbridge Review owners who spoke out against the Japanese internment camps during WWII.  They almost lost their business because of it.  But, I didn't know about that history until I listened to the folk song.

Real history is passed in songs and nursery rhymes.

Musicians never lost our roots.  That includes all artists.  But, American society has lost art and music.  I used to drink in first generation Irish bars.  Men would come in there and just pop into songs that they all know while tapping their guinness on the bar.  We americans have our music and dance synthesized and fortified.

Hum...I just thought of a new conspiracy theory.  What if all this crap, force-fed "music" is for the purpose of losing that heritage of communicating history through song and story?  What if the whole intent is to sorta feed that need we have for music and dance and then usurping it with some synthesized version?  I'm going to have to think on this for a while, but I may be into something.  How many people sing to their children anymore?  Do you know the story behind "Rock-a-by-Baby"?

And look at the crap they call "music" today?  Did you see lady gaga on the MTV awards?  It's on youtube and it's disgusting!  I had to mute the sound and try and prevent myself from puking while I watched.  And, if you're into the whole illuminati/satanic idea, there is a lot of disgusting symbolism in that "performance".  If I didn't "know better", I'd think that she was being used for very evil purposes. ;)

You are exactly right. I am almost embarrassed when I turn the tv on and hear some band helping society like this new pop music. Music nowadays is actually changing our culture and is another key opponent in helping the mass follow there Sheppard. It really is disgusting. You had some very nice points DT!

Thank you.  ;D

Did you know that there is a computer program that mathematically analyzes modern "music" to predict a "hit"?  I read about it on slashdot.org a few years ago.  There is a relationship between music and math.  Kids who play piano have an easier time learning math.  So, now they've computed what the sheeple will buy by computing it.  Fuck that.

Give me the old fashioned acoustic guitar and a washboard for the beat.  That is music.  Hell, give me an out of tune guitar that plays the blues and the singer's percussion is the stomp of his feet!  Now, that is real!  Give me a story that goes with it...that is musical heaven. :D

Your silly DT, but very true lol.

I have heard of that hit prediction before. I think I heard it off of C2C.

Why am I silly?  I really like old fashioned impromptu music.  All cultures, except here, have music and dance.  It is a part of being human.  Unfortunately, in the US, we have to be drunk to exercise it.  :-[

Come on, a washboard, a song with a story, a bass made from strings and a bucket...dude...that is what created Rock and Roll!  Those are the organic roots of this genetically modified, synthesized crap they spew on the airwaves.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd60nI4sa9A" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd60nI4sa9A</a>

BTW, there is a story behind this song too. ;)

Doesn't this song make you wanna clap your hands and stomp your feet...Now...this is real feeling music.  There is a vibe to it that cannot come from the industries crap.  It's like a conversation with Robert Johnson.  I can't explain it...
