Question about `borrowing` Christmas trees?
« on: December 08, 2009, 05:34:12 PM »

If you `borrow` (read into that what you will) a Christmas tree from a Christmas Tree Farm down the road…is it a nice gesture?

I’m going Christmas Tree borrowing tomorrow with my friend and it’s going to be fun I think. We’re going to borrow three trees (one for his family, one for Kim’s family and one for my neighbours because I don’t have enough room to put on up in my house) and the farm is about 12 miles away.

Has anyone ever `borrowed` a tree before? I’ll let you know how the `borrowing` goes, if I’m not back by midnight then it hasn’t gone well. :P

Nah.  I don't do Christmas.  I haven't since I got divorced.  I just don't see the point.

Someone who shares my views. Thank god for that. ;D  :-*

Kim's the only person getting anything off of me this year becuase I can't be asked to get anyone else anything, too much hassel and too much money. I just need to think what to get her now.  :-\

My boyfriend and I don't exchange gifts either.  Although I did buy him a phone last year the day after Christmas.  I did that because his old phone kept dying and I couldn't get ahold of him.  I did it for selfish reasons. :)

I knew it wasn't just me. ;D I hate them, I hate trying to buy something for someone. It look and feels like you're trying to buy THEM rather than do something nice.

Edit: unless it's a sexual gift, I'm all for them (the fun that can be had with a skipping rope ;) ). ;D

The thing is, if I want something, I go buy it.  I don't need somebody to give me gifts because Hallmark says so.  My boyfriend did get me a gun for my birthday.  Even though it was months after my birthday and we happened to be walking past a gun shop.  He knew I wanted a .22 revolver and they had a couple.  So, we got one.

Right we got the trees. My idiot friend parked his van a mile away so we have to carry the fucking things a mile before we could load them up. I’m knackered as well now.

The one thing about "borrowing" of a tree that is bothering me, it depends who it is borrowed from.  If it is borrowed from a local farmer, I have to say I have a problem with that.  If it is borrowed from a subset of a corporate entity, I have no problem with that.

Just my two cents.

It was borrowed of a family called the Cherry’s love. They own everything around here and they’re selling all the land off to Development companies to build new houses. I have no problem with `borrowing` anything from them because they’re the typical `new rich`; we (people in Weston) recon they’re going to wait until their mother dies before they sell off everything around here, they must own near £90 million worth in land and houses so they’re not going to worry about a few trees going missing.
