"Wisdom of the Ancients"?
« on: January 24, 2010, 12:10:46 AM »

Many of us have heard that psychedelic and other mind altering drugs can give some glimpses of the future, past or/and other realms. Many times they are true, but most of the time the stories you here are false. I was watching Trauma Life in the ER on Tru TV and they had this guy that was just out of his mind on drugs. He was talking all sort of gibberish and couldn't understand a single thing he was saying. All of a sudden, he said "Wisdom of the Ancients". He repeated that over and over. I was startled in wonder. All I know is that many say that certain drugs can give you insight of the supernatural side. I just wanted to share that because it was really, really strange. It's hard to explain. :-\

When I was Mormon I believed in talking in tongues and laying on of hands for healing. Maybe this guy was talking in tongues?

I didn't choose Mormonism, my parents did. They're not the only religion who believes in talking in tongues. There are many Baptists out there with the same belief.

Worship as you choose. Individuals always do no matter what governments say.

I can understand and relate to your reactions against modern day christianity. I'm not sure we can ever find out if Jesus/Ishua ever actually lived, let alone find out what he said.

Jesus/Ishua was just one of many. Mithra was probably more popular at the time. He too had 12 disciples, was killed and resurrected, performed miracles, etc.

The blood/flesh thing of the catholic church has always gotten to me too. That is so completely Pagan.

I don't believe Christians are monotheists. I believe that they're dual-theists just like Zoroastrians. They have a good god and a bad god. I once read about some natives that began to pray to Lucifer after the christians arrived. They saw the brutality of the christians so they figured the christians were praying to an evil god so they began to pray to the opposite god of Lucifer/Satan/Devil. I believe that may have been in Papa New Guinea. So, christianity creates satanism. :D

Speaking of Zoroastrianism, one of my favorite sayings comes from them. "Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds" ;D

I also don't believe that God is either male or female. I believe that God is both and neither. However I have said in the past, "The day I bow down to a male Deity is the day I see a man give birth". ;)

Why would I mind? :D

I was in a Wickan Coven for a while years ago. I don't care for Gardner. I think he had issues when he used to take off his clothes and sit on them when it rained. That sounds strange to me. It also sounds strange that men are the reason for modern day Goddess worship. But...c'est la vie...

What I believe today, All paths lead to God, even Atheism.

D.T.

I really look forward to your posts on this site much of what you have to say is very enlightening (I try not to use the "enlighten" word to much anymore because it seems to get so over

used, but when it fits...) the Papa New Guinea stuff was especially fascinating to me, any more information on that would be appreciated. And then to say "I also don't

believe that God is either male or female. I believe that God is both and neither.
" that's really

good stuff! Than you top the whole thing off with "What I believe today, All paths lead to God, even Atheism." Thank you! I'm still searching and reminders like these

just help me to feel that much closer!

I have to say I sometimes feel as though I'm not in on the code that people speak when posting on this website, but your message is always very clear and concise to me.

I hope I haven't been to forward in my comments, I mean no offense to you or anyone. I was once lost as you seem to know, but today I only look for ways to help both myself and my

brothers and sisters.

I wish to hurt no one!

I don't know if anyone is interested but I came across this video earlier today that kind of speaks to "ancient wisdom" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKW9sbJ3v2w it sums up religion

for me at least, to date, my world is constantly evolving.

Peace

That's OK, you just haven't gotten your secret decoder ring yet. Just send in those 1,000,000,000 box tops and you too can get one. :D

Many of us know each other from another website, which isn't quite as friendly.

As far as God goes? It has never been a cut and dried concept for me. My understanding...or experience of God is an ever changing process. I like the Buddhist idea that God is within all. The scary part of that is, if I am a part of God, then I have to take responsibility for what happens to me and all those around me. It is both a blessing and a curse. I cannot play the part of victim, as many in our society do. I have to change myself first and then affect change in the outer world. To understand God, I have to understand myself. To understand myself, I have to understand God. Sometimes, trying to understand myself can be a very scary dark labyrinth.

I dunno though. Sometimes I think that this which we call "reality" is merely virtual reality and that we're all somewhere else controlling these avatars we call bodies.

I did watch the video you posted. It's interesting. I believe there is some truth in many different stories. For example, nursery rhymes contain many historical events. Maybe all mythological stories contain historical events?

Oh, one more thing. I'm not sure if that story was from Papa New Guinea or somewhere else. I remember it from anthropology class years ago. And with the brutality that the christians brought to this land we call the Americas, it isn't surprising that natives of anywhere would pray to the opposite god of the invaders.

My take on this is the Ancient Astronaut theory. I think that back in time we were visted many times by off worlder's who thought we might need some sort of guidence and moral's. Thus came the big 10 from Moses, if he was real. The parting of the red sea, and the story of the jews exodis. To strange to ignore the possibility. And then the Sumarians.

Thank you for the reply! I often feel this way myself. Sometimes I think that this which we call "reality" is merely virtual reality and that we're all somewhere else controlling these avatars we call bodies. Just finished a book co-authored by Dr. Robert Lanza called "Biocentrism". I guess to sum the book up I would have to say his argument is (based on an old physics theory) that says nothing exists until it is perceived by a human being or a segregate there of, such as a camera or alike. He uses the double slit experiment to make his argument, this experiment shows that a particle fired through a plate with two slits will follow a predictable path when observed. Yet when it is not observed it's path is always random or an interference pattern, at times even going through both slits simultaneously. They prove this out by examining where the particle has struck the target at the far end of the experiment.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4237751840526284618#

He also revisits the old tree falling in the woods, and concludes that it makes no sound. He says that in order for sound to exist it has to be interpreted by a sentient beings Auditory system, stating that sound is caused by air movement though the ear causing the ear drum to vibrate and so on... So if nothing is around to receive the air movement there is no sound just wind.

In the end it seems his theory says that nothing exists without consciousness. That's a little like what you had said. The more I think about it, the more things it explains for me. I like the god within all of us as well, I believe that we are all one. If anyone is into it, Dr. Bruce Lipton the cellular biologist has some cool stuff on it, I can post a link.

I spent a short amount of time trying to find something on the New Guinea thing but bailed out pretty quick after getting a little brain burn with all the religious fanaticism. Wow literally thousands of pages, blogs and so on, of people trying to convince themselves that they have the answer. It's really kind of sad I think, spending so much time on a currently unsolvable argument. Not that I view myself in any way to be better then them, it's just that we are all going to find that answer out soon enough, why become so embattled over it.

I have been trying to spend most of my time looking at life "as though". Lets say reincarnation is real that it's proven. That suggest to me that:1. I can throw the fear of death thing right out the window. 2. Before I entered this lifetime I chose the path it would take me, so for what ever happened to me on this particular journey there is a reason. Even if it seems like there is no explanation for the pain. 3. Let come what may, quite my mind and allow intuitive thought to guide me. There is nothing more freeing to me.
Other belief systems to me just seem to easily to fit the "designed to control" model, making them hard for me to swallow. I don't think they work to well with my "as though" idea. But once again this is my stuff and definitely "to each his (or her) own".

Most all of the religious arguments I hear seem to come down to wanting to be the one to say "I told you so", if you really cared about saving my immortal soul would you be doing that by casting aspersions on me and how I live my life.
In the grand scheme of things does it really matter, who's right and who's wrong.

Eman
"Ancient Astronauts" are cool, I like that one as well.
I thought I saw some where that there were originally 15 commandments, and Moe dropped one of the tablets running down the hill!
I once had someone try to make the age argument with me (Moe being like 700 years old) by saying that the air was better back then, what do you think, maybe huh :-\ I'm sorry I'm being facetious, please forgive me, but it was kind of funny!
