for two reasons.
First off is the crushing news that a real hero has been lost. David Beckham, a truly incredible man (he's my personal hero and I don't even like the sport he plays), is out of the Football world cup with a torn Achilles. As much criticism as this man has got he is the only England player to try 100% every fucking game, the man even paid some of his transfer fee JUST so he could play football for his country. The man has been down so many times but he's always got back up and tried again (I'm starting to tear up with Pride here by the way, honestly); he's one of the few sportsmen that cross over many sports and is known in many counties; his desire to play for England is huge, even when he was dropped he worked his way back in, even when it cost him his own money to be transfered back to Europe he did it and he did it happily...Beckham is not just a sporting icon, he's not just a national hero, he's a man of legend and it's a shame that he's torn his Achilles.
A knighthood must surely come to a man who's given so much for his country, it would be madness if it doesn't. If the England Cricket Team got MBO's and MBE's for winning the Ashes (even a bloke who didn't play got one lol) then surely Beckham must.
