This is a very cool pdf that anyone can download.  It has great information on some basics when grocery shopping, to try to stay away from gmo food.

http://www.nongmoshoppingguide.com/documentFiles/144.pdf

Here is this person/group's other website:

http://www.responsibletechnology.org/GMFree/Home/index.cfm

I haven't read the whole site yet.  I do believe there is some good information here that I have yet to find.  I heard a guy from this site on a radio program.  He wants to put Monsanto out of business!  YAY!!!! Grin

As a true Capitalist, I believe in "put your money where your mouth is".  Don't buy monsanto poison!

One of these days, I'm going to get into a tizzy fit and ask a regular supermarket why they're selling me poison.  I've been thinking about going into a store, getting a bunch of processed poison, and then ask the cashier if the soy/corn/canola oils are gmo.  It might piss a few people off, but...what if I proved a point to one of the four or five behind me?

I dunno...it's just a thought.

I'm going to look into one of these groups here, I'm hoping that once I get my bit of land I'll be able to join them and get certified...it will help spread our message about GM and it will help me earn a bit of money. lol. A lot of our food worldwide is GMed sadly and we're never told about it or they "tell" us by using stupid words that nobody understands.

Down with Monsanto!!!

Down with Monsanto!!!

I second that!

You know, I do see a ray of light at the end of the tunnel.  Last weekend my boyfriend and I were at a store in a small town.  We were about to boat down a river and needed some snacks.  On the chip aisle I was picking up bags and reading the ingredients.  I kept putting them back saying "nope, that has gmo corn oil", or "nope that has gmo canola", or "nope that has gmo soy oil".  I knew he was getting frustrated with me, and he said, "well it all does".  Then, along comes a lady who is also reading ingredients. Cheesy  She asked if I was looking to avoid corn (I believe, if I remember correctly).  I said that I was looking to avoid gmo and that if it's corn, soy or rapeseed (AKA canola) it is gmo.  She just shook her head negatively.  She was obviously educating herself!

I believe it's these little things that we do on a daily basis that can really affect change.  I mean, that lady was actually reading labels!  She was taking an interest in what she was eating!  That is a start.

What I chose to buy was locally grown raw almonds and raw cashews. Wink  Along with a bit of local fruit (not organic unfortunately).  It was a nice little boating experience.  We were styling in a paddle boat with a small canopy while most others were in blow up boats.  We had the Cadillac of the river. Cheesy

I also gave out another Constitution this weekend to a buddy of my boyfriend.  He didn't have a copy on him.  I will probably go to Hempfest tomorrow, which reminds me, I need to bring a bunch of Constitutions with me.  Then again, that's like preaching to the converted.

Lashy, I'll tell you what, just start talking.  It seems that everywhere I go, people know a little bit or segment of what is going on.  They want to learn more...to a point...then they get overwhelmed again.  Just talk, then shut up when they can't handle more.  People like us, on sites like this, are almost numb to it.  It is the "normal" ones we have to help.  I don't know what your wakeup call was.  But, I remember when it hit me, it was overwhelming.  I though, "oh shit!  It's real!"...Most people can't deal with that kind of wake up call.

BTW, how is the garden thing?  Oh, I need to post about mine. Cheesy

I've been looking carefully here recently and I'm not sure what to make of people anymore. They seem to know things but they just don't care...which is strange. They seem to know our government is powerless, they seem to know they're being fed propaganda in the news, they seem to know the food they eat is pumped full of crap...but they just don't give a shit. Its really hard to have a decent conversation with people about this because all they say is "Yeah, but what can you do about it?"...its like talking to a plank at times. I've struck up conversations about these problems but people seem inept about it.  Cry  Undecided Its hard to have a one way conversation with people who kinda know about these problems but just don't care.
