Just to name a few in the last hundred years...... WW1, Great Depression, WW2, Cold War, Vietnam War, JFK Assassination, the death of Elvis, Gulf War, Heavens Gate, 9/11, Gulf War2.

Thats just to name a few scenarios of the past hundred years when people thought the end is near and the Armageddon is here.

Im not a Christian or a religious person, although I am very spiritual, but Alex Jones from Infowars.com believes that mainstream media are making it to where these people are ridiculed. He says that people will lose their faiths and religious beliefs altogether because of these silly doomsdayer's.

Where is rapture in the Bible?  The Jehovah's Witnesses believe, if I remember correctly, that when a person dies they're dead.  The soul doesn't go to heaven the body is buried and that is it, until Jesus comes back.  When Jesus comes back, the 144,000 chosen are resurrected and live out peace/heaven on earth.  Much of their belief comes from Revelations.  I'm going to have to reread that one again.  So, I think both the rapture idea and the Jehovah's Witness idea are twisted beliefs of something mentioned in Revelations.

The word revelations to me means to reveal.  It reveals the hidden and allows it to show.  These may be the days talked of in Revelations.  We are being shown truths our ancestors weren't.  There is knowledge coming forward that was once hidden.  I haven't given a lot of credence to the Bible for most of my life.  But, it is possible that there are some truths hidden in there as well.  Who knows?

Who with half a brain does?

"if they can make you believe in absurdities, they can make you commit atrocities".

They want you to believe when you die you go to a big fluffy cloud with a big-arse gate...the dude at the gate has a word with the boss and you're let in if you were good or sent to a BBQ if you were bad. My thing with Christianity is that there are only a finite amount of sins a human can commit in one lifetime...yet if you "sin" you go to hell for all time. Thats total overkill, thats not a kind and merciful god and that is very far from forgiveness.

The bible also says you cannot predict the rapture...so why do devout Christians try? Surely thats a sin, being a false profit?

That whole fire and brimstone bs actually comes from Gehenna.

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?artid=115&letter=G

The King James version translated 3 different concepts into one word, hell.  One concept was this Gehenna.  One concept was the Egyptian Hades.  I forget the third one...it might have been the refuse pit where they had a constant fire to burn their waste or that may be the Gehenna.  It's been so long since I've looked into this.

There are some who believe that it was Sir Francis Bacon who was the real author of the King James version.  I haven't researched that much.  But, many of the modern English translations originate from the King James version.  I think who ever translated it intentionally screwed up meanings to mess with the masses.

And yes, it is a sin for christians to predict when Jesus is going to come back.  Well, according to christians.

But yet the morons still believe it. lol. If someone like me knows its a "sin" it shows how fucked most people who follow main-stream crap are. Its just basic common sense, if the bible says you can't predict the rapture its just an automatic jump that anyone who does is a false prophet...therefore anyone who follows him is a sinner too. I don't understand why people don't see though the lie which is Christianity anyway...if you live a totally good and innocent life but in the last 5 minutes of it you commit even a small sin you go to the big BBQ down below for forever and a day. That seems like a good God doesn't it? Not only do we have to donate heavily to his Church, if we don't we burn for eternity. Fuck I suppose once they've got you believing in a magical dude sitting on a cloud they can have you believe anything they want.

Toppy...I nicked it from him when I listened to it the other day.  ;D I've been dropping it into casual conversation as well. Its interesting the reaction you get when you drop soundbites/quotes into conversation.
