Believers and Skeptics React to Failed Doomsday

But Lashy, the fire and brimstone preached by the Baptists doesn't come from the Bible.  It comes from a misunderstanding of Gehenna and human sacrifices practiced by the people we currently refer to as Jews.  The word Jew didn't even appear until the 1700 or 1800's.  Contrary to programmed belief, they weren't always monotheists.

I think people believe these things because they want to believe.  I don't understand why the msm hyped it so much though.  There have been a ton of other people predicting the rapture (which also isn't in the bible) and the end of the world, but you don't hear about them on the propaganda machine.  I wonder who this Camping guy is and if he may have been part of a psy-ops of some sort.  Who knows.

I think I read that the name came out of ancient Egypt where
they were originally referred to as the "Haberu"(sp) I guess it translated out as the people from the other side of the river...

Some think that the modern day Hebrews and the ancient Egyptian religions
were once one, and the Jews came out of the rift just as Christianity came out of Judaism.
I also read somewhere that some believe that "David" was actually Tuthmosis the III "King Solomon" was Amenhotep III,
Solomon meaning the peace maker which was one of Amenhoteps claims to fame.  The Temples and so on.... ad infinitum'

I have to tell on my self and admit that every time I hear of one of these scams (Rapeture, the chosen 144,00 (you know if they are only going to let 144k in then I might be a little more tight lipped about the whole affair, but thats just me), or if you don't send me a million dollars by noon, god's are going to blow me up) it makes me start to search for an angle on how to take advantage of these peoples stupidity (or total ignorance if you prefer) lets try to remain open minded and say that even if they are right, then what? So I have no right to "rain on" anyones religious parade or zealously, and I prefer not to say that my views are the only correct views it's more like one of my favorite all time lines "a fool and his money are soon parted", I just can't get it out of my head! I'm trying to be more spiritual here, but these things just make it so trying!

One last thing and then I'll shut-up! If anyone comes up with a way to take advantage of these saps could you let me know, please?

I guess it all comes out in the wash anyway! ;)

I know what you're saying, I'm just saying the Christian bible is nonsensical once you think about it. And you're right about them being polytheists...the Jewish Bible was written around the time Jerusalem fell to the Persians or whoever they were and the inhabitants thought it was punishment for some shit, blah blah blah (long story short) they had enough of lots of god and went to having just one.
