I hear you loud and silent on that regnad (winks)...

I must tell you of the lawsuit involving two musicians Over the "rights to silence"...<rather ironic  ::) :o :P

there was a classical musician ,who wrote a piece many years ago with a long "break",or "pause" of total silence.

well he willed his music on to family members....and many years later,
another classical musician wrote an original piece with silence interjected in it at some point, and not for the same length of time
as the original piece,by the other musician.

well, the first musician's "family", who owned his copyrights, proceeded to sue the second musician, who interjected the silence in his "new" piece of music.

They felt that they had the "rights to the sounds of silence" for a long length of musical time in a piece of classical music.

I can't remember how it turned out, heard it on the radio(at least 8 to 9 years ago)....and laughed so hard...(musicians fighting over silence...whooa  too funny)

sounds sort of nice....

I wonder if they would mind if I played them some beatle tunes...

just for the sake of...harmony..(lets try something else for now)....

I'm not a huge heavy metal fan...songs about death, and blood,and..well....they are hard for me to listen to....but I gues alot of songs are about that indirectly...

Picking up on that. Most Metal songs are about death, yes very true, but almost all of them are commenting on the stupid ways humans cause death. The song below is about Nukes (there is a line later that goes: "Sitting on a time bomb with a primitive design, wish we got the spirit and the power to survive")

Sodom - Genocide:

This is the dark side of humanity
To liberate treacherous insanity
You can't ignore the truth behind
That followed us until the end of time

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF70OfNnZ7k" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qF70OfNnZ7k</a>

While they're about death and things a lot of them are basically saying:

This is just fucking stupid, stop letting the guys in charge killing the likes of you and me. Stand up and tell them to fuck off, we don't want war and we've had enough of the ways the people always suffer no matter what the war is about.

Or:

People judge other people too much and they never get to know real people, they decide they don't like someone before they know them and we think that's fucking stupid ya know?

Take this for example, Metallica - Disposable heroes:

Quote
Soldier boy, made of clay
Now an empty shell

Clay is one of the most abundant resources on earth. Basically what that's saying is "we have lots of young lads who are willing to die for us and it doesn't matter how much damage we cause them...we always have more"

Quote
Twenty one, only son
But he served us well

Self-explanatory really. "But" is the most important word in that.

Quote
You coward
You servant
You blindman

Why, am I dying?
Kill, have no fear
Lie, live off lying
Hell, hell is here

I was born for dying

The first three lines tells you about how the government treats soldiers, young men who they lied to and tricked into dying for a cause that isn't theres to fight. The rest of it tells you about the soldier finding out about this and then questioning it.

Quote
Life planned out before my birth, nothing could I say
Had no chance to see myself, molded day by day
Looking back I realize, nothing have I done
Left to die with only friend
Alone I clench my gun

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCsH1g5ZESk" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCsH1g5ZESk</a>

And people say it's meaning less noise. lol. When you look at the lyrics you understand what is being said. Sometimes you need to hear the music to fully understand it as well. Iron Madien - Paschendale is a good example of that, the short bursts of pace and then the much longer quieter, slower sections match the pace of life in the Great War; the weeks they spent sitting in the trenches all waiting for the few hours of killing.

Metallica - Orion (instrumental)

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TkuFLxHSWI" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TkuFLxHSWI</a>

That middle section is stunning. It's like a lesbian car wash in July when the sun is out...it's how it should be. ;D :P lol.
