Eco movement driving you nuts as well?
« on: September 10, 2009, 04:23:26 AM »

I know it’s annoying the crap out of me. You can hardly turn the corner without being blasted but some form of new `green technology` or energy efficient stuff in one form or another. Don’t these green freaks get it’s annoying to be blasted with this everyday? It’s not too bad if it were about different things but it’s not, it’s always the same few things; turn the lights off and save the planet, turn the thermostat down and save the planet, turn this down/off and save the planet.

Don’t they understand that I just don’t care because of their constant barrage of information? Their constant, almost non-stop `greenness` is annoying and it’s putting people off. Don’t they understand that it is their own actions that are putting people off?

There is a better way to get people to be green. Through their pockets.  ;)  We all like to save money and most of the time being `Eco friendly` will save you money in either the long or short run, either which way it will save you money at some time.

And another thing that annoys me. Chances are you are sitting near your very own platform for free energy, not only is it something that will make you very own power but it can be used to save money from your heating bills when it’s looked after properly…it’s called a roof.

Glorious things roof’s, they keep the sun off of us in the summer, they keep us warm in the winter, they keep the rain off us in the winter as well (unless you’re in the UK, it’s like living in the tropics here…it rains about as much, shame about the cold weather though).

The best things about roofs are that they are pretty large, flat, and they point straight at the sky. With a little careful planning you could heat you house from the roof, you could get your electricity from it and you could also collect all the rainwater from it so you can water the garden as well as flush your toilets.

Some people are very luck in that they can use their roof space as another garden as well, jokes on them though because they have to cut the grass up there as well.

This is in Singapore:

I’m going be posting regular articles about being `green`, just with out all the annoying crap. Hopefully I’ll be showing you how to make things like the green roof to installing solar panels and converting you car into Bio-fuel.

Wouldn’t it be nice that the next time one of these Eco freaks ask you about your power consumption you can turn round and say:

“I drive an 8X8 Tatra because it’s fun. I have every light on in the house, all year round. I have the thermostat turned up so high we don’t need to use the oven anymore. I have a 62-inch LED TV screen that eats up half the nation grid and I leave my PC on all the time. But it’s alright because I produce my own power unlike you, I saw you turn up in your 4X4 SUV and I saw you fill it up with normal gas. Now stick it!”

As you can see I’ve devoted many hours to that speech, that is how much the Eco freaks annoy me.  :-[
